🚩If you want to eat salmon, come to Mowi Salmon
Mowi, the world's largest salmon supplier from Norway, has established the Mowi Salmon brand in Taiwan, focusing on fresh salmon delivered directly from the source, made into healthy and diverse dishes that combine freshness with deliciousness. Mowi Salmon specialty stores do not have independent locations, but are situated in department store food courts.
Today I visited the new Carrefour store in Xindian, which has been operating for six and a half years, making it one of the longer-established shops in the food court. The shop's decor features a combination of white and salmon orange, with a small corner offering seven seats. Generally, patrons will use the shared seating area in the food court. After finding a seat, you can go to the counter to place your order, then wait for your number to be called using a vibrating device. Payment can be made in cash, via StreetPay, or LinePay, and bills can be collected at the counter without service charges.
Today I ordered:
French garlic seafood pasta (with extra noodles) $288
This is a relatively low-priced dish. The main ingredient is salmon minced meat, accompanied by two shrimp and a few slices of squid. The sauce is average, and overall, it’s not particularly impressive.
Italian roasted vegetables $60
Although the portion isn’t very large, it contains a rich variety of vegetables including corn, zucchini, bell peppers, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes. They are served warm and juicy, not dry at all.
This shop has been around as long as I have been eating here. I loved coming here when it first opened, but now, perhaps due to cost considerations, the cheaper dishes have switched to minced salmon, which really isn’t that great. I recommend ordering a whole piece of salmon for a more satisfying meal. Sometimes, using the Ocard membership, there are add-on discount coupons available; currently, there’s a promotion for salmon chin at an additional $108 (originally $168). The chin meat is tender and fatty, just thinking about it makes my mouth water 😋.
Overall, the quality of the ingredients is excellent, and the seasoning isn’t bad either, but the price of the dishes and the dining space feel unbalanced (with the crowding and noise of the food court… 😵). Other branches seem to have more seating, which should create a better dining atmosphere.
