The fried small crabs from A-Tong's seafood fried dishes have a golden and crispy appearance, with the aroma of Thai basil. The taste is decent, but the amount of crab meat is small and slightly dry. Overall, it performs adequately.
Among the many culinary delights at the market, Ah Tong's seafood fried snacks is one of the stalls known for its focus on seafood fried snacks. Although they have a storefront, this time I tasted their offerings at the shimmering market stall, experiencing the street version of Ah Tong's flavors.
This time, I chose their "Fried Mini Crabs."
Visually, they appeared golden and crispy, exuding the aroma of Thai basil, which is typical of Taiwanese fried snacks. However, upon tasting, the overall experience was rather average, lacking any significant surprises. The mini crabs were fried to a crisp, which was nice, but the shells were a bit hard, and the amount of crab meat was minimal, making it slightly dry to chew. The highlight was definitely the added Thai basil, which enhanced the aroma and added depth to the overall fried dish.
However, the portion of fried mini crabs was on the small side, and the price was somewhat high. For market snacks, the cost-to-value ratio was somewhat lacking. If you're looking to eat while walking, and expecting satisfaction or a full feeling, it might not seem worth it.
Overall, if you're seeking high value or a richer seafood experience, this might not be the best choice.
