Located in the B1 of Hsinchu's Big City, Nice Cream Big City is an Italian gelato specialty store that makes you want to visit again immediately after finishing. Although it shares the same name as Nice Cream in Taipei, it seems to be a different management team, and the loyalty cards are not interchangeable; the Big City location uses LINE for point collection.

The ice cream has a smooth texture, rich aroma, and is not overly sweet. Almost every flavor has its highlights, and I strongly recommend the "Soymilk" and "Pistachio." These two flavors completely lack the artificial taste commonly found in desserts and are a perfect blend of authentic bean aroma and rich texture; the pistachio is a classic among classics, with a strong aroma and creamy texture that rivals well-known international brands.

If it's your first time here, it's suggested to come with two or three friends to share and try several different flavors. Eating two scoops alone is actually quite a sizable portion, but the variety of enticing flavors makes it hard to be satisfied with just one scoop. In addition to the signature flavors, popular choices include Belgian caramel cookies, berries, lavender blueberries, and passion fruit.

I first tried this place at the Da'an branch in Taipei, where the owner is Italian, focusing on health, vegan options, and zero trans fats. This time, I returned to the Hsinchu branch to relive some signature flavors, thinking I could use my loyalty card, only to find out that the branches in Taipei and Hsinchu operate independently—a little disappointing.

Signature Soy Milk Flavor
The soy aroma is rich and the texture is smooth; the best part is it is completely unsweetened. For someone like me who drinks "one cup of soy milk a day," it is simply a moment of blissful, icy soy essence! I highly recommend it to all soy milk lovers!

Pistachio Flavor
When I was in Europe, I really enjoyed ordering pistachio gelato. After returning to Taiwan, I found that there are more and more pistachio products available, and I always try them when I see them. So far, the only one I've been satisfied with is a nut drink from a certain place in the Da'an District. Other offerings, like the earlier 7-Eleven pistachio ice cream, were overly sweet. This could be due to ratios, pricing, or sourcing issues, making it hard to replicate the flavors exactly as I experienced in Europe; most are either too sweet or lacking in flavor.

Having tried the signature soy milk flavor before, I knew this place had a high standard, so I decided to try the pistachio. It turned out amazing! You can taste the complete nutty aroma, it's rich, and there’s no excessive sweetness. The balance is just right, allowing the natural flavor of the pistachio to shine through, making you want to keep eating!
