The beverage is quite standard; the strawberry yogurt has a good balance of sweet and sour, with a decent texture, while the matcha milk lacks a strong aroma and richness.
The small stalls in the night market offer healthy and natural handmade beverages, perfect for quenching your thirst while strolling through the night market.
New Concept Fresh Brewed Tea, located at the Dongdaemun Night Market in Hualien, is a small stall that promotes freshly brewed tea drinks, focusing on healthy and natural handmade beverages. While wandering the night market, I happened to see that this shop was having a promotion because the Chinese national team won the championship in the top 12 baseball tournament. They offered a 20% discount on all items, which seemed quite timely, so I tried two signature drinks: strawberry yogurt and matcha milk.
The strawberry yogurt performed fairly well overall; the acidity of the strawberries and the creaminess of the yogurt blended together just right. The balance of sweet and sour made it quite pleasant to drink, especially with the texture of the strawberry chunks adding to the experience, making it a satisfying cup. As for the matcha milk, the aroma and richness of the matcha were lacking, and the milk flavor was a bit too light. The overall impression was that it had too much water, completely missing the smooth and dense texture that matcha enthusiasts expect, which was somewhat disappointing.
In terms of pricing, this drink stall is on the higher end of the night market's price range, with the original price for a cup being about 80 to 100 NT dollars. Although there was a 20% discount on that day, without such promotional offers, the cost-performance ratio is indeed not very high for the taste and portion offered.
Overall, New Concept Fresh Brewed Tea's beverages are average. The strawberry yogurt is worth trying. If you want to quench your thirst with some tea drinks, this place could be considered, but it might not necessarily be on the must-visit list.
