Second generation succession | Innovating the 40-year-old local brand of Hsinchu village noodle dishes 🏘️🍜

During work hours, I came to the Far Eastern department store for lunch with friends. After checking out a few places that were fully booked, we picked a noodle shop that my friend had tried at the original Hsinchu location.

🥚 Century Egg Sauce Minced Pork Dry Noodles ($175):
I saw the English name was 100-year egg and realized it referred to century egg 😂 I instantly found it super appealing!

You can choose between thin or thick noodles; I opted for the thick ones this time, which were quite good and had a nice chewy texture.

The century egg still retains its shape and isn't the crumbled type I imagined. Additionally, the signature meat sauce here tastes more like small pieces of braised pork, and combining the two was quite flavorful and delicious, though it should be noted that the saltiness is on the high side.

🐷 Black Pork Meatball Soup ($65) - Exclusive to Xinyi Far Eastern:
I really loved this bowl~ it completely exceeded my expectations when ordering 😚
The broth is bold and rich, with a strong pepper flavor and pork bone aroma. The Hsinchu Hai Rui black pork meatballs used are also very flavorful, large, and chewy.

🐮 Roasted Choice Beef Rib Noodles ($250) - Weekday exclusive:
This was ordered by my friend; after taking a sip of the broth, I found it to lean towards salty and oily, packed with flavor—just the way I like it. The beef rib had a tender texture but wasn’t overly soft or mushy.

However, my friend mentioned that by the end, the broth was indeed a bit too salty 😝

Would I return: Yes!
The dishes I ordered were quite to my taste (appetite). Eating bold flavors during a weekday lunch is pretty suitable for kicking off the afternoon work mood. I recommend it for those who love bold flavors 🫶🏻 (Not recommended for those who usually prefer lighter tastes!)
