Came to Emei to see the Maitreya Buddha, and happened to find this place on my to-eat list. It’s right next to the Zhu Dong train station, with a row of parking spaces in front. If those are full, there’s also a parking lot behind the station (about a 5-minute walk). There were quite a lot of people on the weekend, so you need to register and wait for a seat. They will give you a menu to look at first, but there are quite a few seats available. We were seated within ten minutes, and the food came out very quickly.

This time, we ordered these dishes for three people:

  • Fried pork ribs with noodle dumplings: $135 (the fried pork ribs with noodle dumplings is quite special; there’s also taro in the soup which is pretty soft, and the ribs are quite tender)
  • Fried pork rib noodles (fine white noodles): $125
  • Tomato beef noodles (handmade noodles): $230 (the beef consists of 2 parts meat and 1 part tendon but is a bit tough; the tomato flavor isn’t very prominent, and it’s slightly salty)
  • Steamed shrimp meatballs (three pieces): $80 (these are steamed meatballs that go pretty well with their sauce, which is quite sweet, but the skin is a bit soft)
  • Pork and chives dumplings (eight pieces): $85 (the dumpling skin isn’t too thick, and it’s flavorful even without dipping sauce; the filling is quite generous)
  • Braised pork rice: $60 (this has two types; this one is mainly fatty meat and has quite a bit of braised sauce)
  • Side dishes: $50 (beef tendon, red fermented meat, tofu skin, pig’s skin, braised large intestine, sweet and spicy tofu, mushrooms, goose gizzard, pig skin, fried vegetables) The side dishes were all quite good, especially the fried vegetables; they were crispy and quite rare at other places.

I recommend the fried pork ribs with noodle dumplings, side dishes, and meatballs. If you come near Zhu Dong, you should give it a try! 👀

Find delicious food on the way.
The entire cement wall-colored building looks quite classy.
Find your seat first and look at the table number drawing
After ordering the main meal, give it to the counter. If you want to pick up the braised food, give the waiter the table number folder first, and they will heat it and bring it to the table.
Sauerkraut and various sauces are provided for your own use.
There are seats for 2 to 6 people, and there are many interior areas.
It's clean, spacious and comfortable. Fortunately, there is a parking space at the door. There is a self-service sparkling water machine inside, but today I don't know why there are no bubbles and only the feeling of cold water.

Pork Rib Crispy Handmade Noodles: The pork ribs are very soft when soaked in the soup. The meat is chewy but not hard to bite! The meat falls off the bone as soon as you lick it, and the noodles have a springy texture and a special shape. There are two pieces of taro inside which taste very soft. There are a few bean sprouts and a small amount of coriander in it, and the soup is slightly oily.

Stir-fried pork rice: There is a generous amount of diced lean meat, and it is fried crispy with scallions.
Lu Rou Rice: It is mainly fatty meat, but it tastes meaty. (The photo is also fake, so I won’t post it)

Braised side dishes: fresh ingredients, including shredded ginger and green onions.

Steamed shrimp and meatballs: quite large, with a very soft skin that is not easy to pick up, and the meat is very plump, and the sauce tastes sweet.

The prices above are quite high. I personally prefer the two dishes: pork rice and braised pork.
