At the steakhouse in Xinyi District, the wooden decor gives a retro steakhouse vibe. As soon as we were seated, the staff checked if there was a birthday celebrant. After I showed my ID confirming that it was my birthday, they immediately wished me a happy birthday and informed me that the set meal I would choose would have a discount of 15% as it was the more expensive option, and they also offered a birthday cake.

For the appetizer, we ordered Hokkaido scallops with truffle broth, which paired well together. I have a habit of wanting to have a creamy soup when eating steak, so we ordered a puff pastry seafood chowder, which was pretty much as I imagined. The following lemon sorbet helped cut through the richness.

For the main course, we ordered the gourmet steak and ribeye filet. The staff recommended medium-rare, and my friend and I both agreed that the gourmet steak was more delicious, as it was easier to cut and the texture was more tender.

We upgraded our drinks to wine for an additional charge, and there was a buy one get one free promotion for red and white wine. We picked one red and one white; the red was not bitter, and the white was a bit sweet, which I really liked.

For dessert, we ordered the chef’s special dessert, which that day consisted of a matcha roll and a New York cheesecake. I thought the portions were larger than expected and quite tasty.

Regarding the birthday celebration, they provided a small cake with candles, but after bringing it, they didn’t ask if we needed the candles lit, which I found a bit strange. However, since I wanted to take a photo, I borrowed a lighter from the staff to light the candles myself, and it tasted pretty good.

Overall, the dining environment, service, and meals were all quite good, and the birthday discount and drink promotions were quite noticeable. If you have a need to celebrate a birthday, this could be a good option to consider.
