The restaurant offers a diverse selection of hot pot options, with fresh and abundant seafood, and the chicken breast remains tender even when cooked for a long time, which is impressive. The broth is on the milder side, making it suitable for those who enjoy the original flavors of the ingredients.
The restaurant is located next to Wushi Harbor, with a clean and comfortable space. There is a lounge area on the second floor for waiting. It is suitable for family and solo dining, and there is a TV broadcasting baseball games.
The service staff had a friendly attitude, provided a paper menu, and explained how to order. Even during the busy New Year period, they remained gracious.
Location: Toucheng Township, Yilan County
Came to eat at this hot pot restaurant during the New Year period.
Made a reservation in advance, so there was no waiting.
I ordered the spicy milk hot pot that I always want to get when I see it.
Their soup base is slightly lighter in flavor, which is more suitable for those who prefer the original taste of the ingredients.
I personally prefer stronger flavors, so I thought the broth was just okay.
The ingredients were relatively fresh and pretty good.
There weren't very many hot pot items, and I think that's a plus.
The portion of vegetables was also sufficient.
However, for me, the hot pot broth is more important, so overall I wouldn't recommend it that highly.
As for the service, the staff were all very friendly. During the busy New Year period, they maintained friendly service.
At the hot pot restaurant next to Wushi Harbor, if you drive, you can park in the curbside parking spaces. On Saturday evening, it was quite crowded when we arrived; you need to leave your personal details to queue for a table. The staff mentioned there is a resting area on the second floor, so we went upstairs to wait for our seats. The upstairs is a simple space with a slide and some small toys for kids to play with, but there isn't much.
Once seated, the staff provided a paper menu, and after a brief introduction, we started ordering by scanning the QR code. Besides hot pot, they surprisingly offer crispy whole chicken and Hong Kong-style snacks, which I thought was quite special. However, since it was our first visit, we decided to try the hot pot first. We ordered a couple's sea and land combo; my friend chose black garlic chicken soup, and I opted for the spicy milk broth, which was rich and not too spicy. The seafood felt pretty fresh, with the clams still moving. There were six types of seafood; although the portions weren't huge, the variety was rich. Their vegetable platter can be exchanged for a meat platter, allowing everyone to choose according to their preferences. The vegetable platter didn't include hot pot ingredients, but it contained 4-5 types of vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, and good starches like sweet potatoes and corn, which felt quite nice. Additionally, the most impressive item was their chicken breast, which remained tender even after cooking for a long time. It was amazing.
The combo we ordered allowed unlimited drinks from the fridge, including cola, Sprite, juice, and green tea, along with a self-serve ice cream option. Personally, I felt that the portion for the couple's combo was quite sufficient, and I left feeling very full.
Overall, the restaurant space is clean and comfortable (except it was a bit stuffy on the second floor). The staff's attitude was also good. They have bar seating, making it suitable for solo diners as well, and there’s a television broadcasting baseball games. Next time, I would like to try their Hong Kong-style dishes if I have the chance.
After the soup base comes up, you must drink the soup first!
The pepper pork bone hot pot soup base is thick and aromatic, but it seems a bit different from what I imagined (I originally thought the pepper would be very strong and slightly spicy). I don't really feel a distinctly strong pepper taste (or am I just used to eating too spicy food?). Overall, the soup is very pleasant to drink; friends who are afraid of spicy but want to try the pepper pork bone pot should definitely order this!
(The photo was taken just when the soup started boiling, but it looks a bit strange? It really is delicious: I got so focused on eating that I forgot to take more pictures, how silly of me.)
When the black garlic chicken soup arrived, I understood why this is a popular recommendation.
As soon as it was served, the aroma of the garlic chicken soup hit me, and I secretly took several sips of the soup.
I really liked the vegetable platter when it was served because there were no hot pot ingredients!
(Although I like hot pot, I don’t like hot pot ingredients, so if a hot pot restaurant offered a menu where you could swap hot pot ingredients for vegetables, I would definitely give them a lot of points in my heart! But the vegetable platter at Wanderer Hot Pot had no hot pot ingredients at all! Super awesome~)
Every type of vegetable cooked up very fresh and sweet; I was originally worried that the corn might be hard and get stuck in my teeth (but there was no such problem at all!) I wanted to ask the owner where they bought these vegetables.
The clams were instantly delicious; the freshness and the sweetness of the clam meat! These clams are really fresh (as kids living by the sea who eat seafood often, we can tell right away if the seafood is fresh!);
The chicken had a bit of seasoning to it?
After cooking it in the soup base, it doesn't become tough and hard to chew (I usually forget to take out other types of meat when cooking beef).
You can eat it directly without sauce, and it's delicious~ The meat is very tender and completely without any taste!
(Recently, I haven’t been too keen on eating chicken because I always feel it has a very noticeable taste that affects my appetite; I've even stopped eating the original boneless chicken thighs I bought from Costco lately. But the chicken at Wanderer Hot Pot is really delicious! It really opened up my appetite.)
The beef was also very tender (at one point, I thought it might dissolve in the mouth!).
After putting it in the pot, just a few seconds later, I could send it straight to my mouth~ (I shared a slice with my family, and they widened their eyes and said the beef is good!)
Recently, my appetite has been quite small,
But today, I actually ate a whole portion of hot pot by myself (finished all the main and side dishes) + a free chicken thigh from a promotion (it’s really the same portion as the main dish!) plus a serving of clams + a drink + ice cream (I was even shocked myself at how much I ate today).
Afterward, I discussed with my family, and they all felt the vegetables were fresh, the meat was very good, and the soup base was really well-prepared!
My grandmother remembered the ice cream the most (that's really funny).
Now there’s another hot pot restaurant I can regularly visit! I don’t have to worry about dining alone; I can sit at the bar!
You can also participate in the loyalty points program at the Wanderer Hot Pot: after accumulating points with today’s purchase, I immediately received a complimentary serving of beef or marbled pork, and in a few weeks, I should be able to return again~
