Ice cream shop | NT$180-NT$270

AI Spot Summary

The ice products at Island Entry Ice Cream Shop combine Taiwanese ingredients with Japanese flavors, with the unique fermented tofu cream ice being surprising. The mango and jasmine grapefruit berry ice products are thoughtfully designed, and the matcha mousse is stunning, though the prices are on the higher side.

The interior environment is designed in an old house style, simple and clean, offering dining spaces on the second floor and a semi-open layout. The seating in the opposite shipping container is comfortable and cool, but waiting in line is required for a table.

The service attitude is average, and customers need to pay attention to the in-store minimum spend and time-limited regulations. Ordering is done using a QR code, and only cash is accepted.

Finally, I visited the ice cream shop that’s been on my food list for a long time on my pilgrimage 🗻ˊ˗.
It’s perfect to rent a scooter with friends in Tainan and casually wander through the charming little alleys, then sit down for a bowl of ice cream to enjoy afternoon tea.
The most famous part of this shop is probably the section where they use ropes to deliver the ice. However, you also need the right timing, location, and luck to get a seat on the second floor. When we went, the main shop's second floor was fully booked (and there are not many seats to begin with). However, there is also a seating area in the nearby container house, which, while not as unique, is a cozy and cool little space!

You order using a QR code and, after ordering, you pay at the counter (cash only). Once your order is ready, the staff will bring it over from the opposite side.

We ordered:
୨୧ Yangzhi Island Dew $270
୨୧ Jasmine Grapefruit and Mulberry $270

Just looking at the photos is enough to cool you down. Between the two, I prefer the sweet and sour taste of the mulberry flavor. It also has jelly and cookies inside (I’m not so fond of the cookies because they soften quickly once the ice melts, which affects the texture). To my surprise, the most amazing part was the layer of matcha mousse on top! When my friend and I had that layer of sauce, we looked at each other wide-eyed and exclaimed how delicious it was!!! I’m not usually a matcha fan, but I was really pleasantly surprised. If next time they have a whole bowl of this mousse with ice, I will definitely support it wholeheartedly 🤣.
Overall, I still feel the prices are a bit high, but the clever design and environment are key positives. There’s even a button at the entrance that you can press (like symbols for the restroom, menu, etc., and a machine will make sounds answering your questions, super cute~).

If you’re looking to bring souvenirs for friends, I also highly recommend buying the small packs of pineapple cake, limited to two packs per person. I remember they cost either 30 or 50 NT, anyway, it's very inexpensive and the packaging is super cute, so it’s the kind of gift that would make a good impression on your friends. Highly recommend it to everyone! 😋

: There is an ice cream shop I want to eat at
Let's go. When I arrived, I discovered that it was the one that delivers ice upstairs.

The seats in the store are random, so if you want a seat on the second floor and can be pulled upstairs, you must wait! !

🌟Open only four days a week
🌟Low consumption of one meal, limited to 50 minutes, no outside food allowed

The Laozhai Ice Shop is located on Chikan East Street in Tainan. I passed by it several times before but didn't notice it. It turns out that this shop I thought was not in operation is the "Dao Rui Ice Shop" that only operates four days a week.

Every ice product at Shimairi Ice Shop uses local Taiwanese ingredients with Japanese flavor. "Shimairi" really uses "fermented bean curd" as an ingredient to pair with chopped ice. It carefully designs a unique combination of ice products and ingredients to make every bite full of surprises. .

Went to the store, picked up the menu, and found a seat. The seats were on the second floor in the city and in the semi-open dining space outside the store. It was raining that day, so there was no place indoors so I wanted to finish my meal quickly and leave.

Dumendao Ice 💰180 Takeaway 💰140
Tofu caramel cream, peanuts, candy, sweet potato chips, raisins, soy cheese, brown sugar
The first bite I took of the cream was surprisingly balanced, with a salty and sweet taste. The second bite I started to wonder if I had eaten soy sauce? ? ? Later I found out that the milk cream is actually made from fermented bean curd. The ingredients are quite delicious and very unique. It is an interesting dish, but it will get a bit cloying after eating, so you just have to taste it.

Big shot’s caramel toasted pudding 💰100
Only half the amount per person (2 people can only order one portion)
The taste is not particularly dense, just a decent pudding.

Thoughts: The ice is visually very beautiful, and the other flavors of ice are also quite unique, but they are a bit more expensive, and the most distinctive ones are unpalatable.

If you value food: slightly expensive, unique but generally delicious

If you value the environment: the old house is simple and clean

If parking is important: motorcycles can park at the door
There is a parking lot near the car, about a 10-minute walk

If you pay attention to the toilet: a small one outdoors

If you value queuing: If you want a seat on the second floor, you must wait. If you want to take photos, it is recommended to wait, otherwise you will feel that the other features are not great.

If you value service: ordinary

If you pay attention to CP value: 🌟🌟🌟
