“The Pause Burger” is located near Zhongshan Junior High School Station, about an 8-minute walk away. The shop has a unique name that, if you don't pay attention, may make you think it has paused operations 😂
The interior space is not very large, accommodating around 8 groups of 2-4 people. I really like the decor style; the wooden tones create a comfortable atmosphere, complemented by the patterned tile designs. Even the burger paper and cups have a consistent design, showing their attention to detail.
They start serving at noon. We made a reservation, but business didn’t seem to be very good. Even though it was Saturday lunchtime, during the two hours we were dining from 12:00 to 14:00, no other customers came in besides the two of us, which was quite surprising.
Lemon Surf and Turf Burger $285
The contents include chicken patty, Swiss cheese, fried fish fillet, chopped green onions, and lemon cheese sauce. The lemon butter flavor is very strong, but the taste is somewhat overpowered by the green onions, making it quite Taiwanese in flavor. Personally, I found it a bit greasy and not the kind of burger that makes you want to take another bite immediately. The fried fish fillet is quite large and crispy, which is a plus, but the chicken patty wasn’t to my liking; the meat feels quite loose and has a poor texture. However, the burger portion is quite large, so even a normally appetizing girl would be full without ordering extra sides.
Onion Rings (S, 8 pieces) $95
They were quite nice when freshly fried, but after cooling down, they become soft and a bit oily. I strongly recommend finishing them while they're hot. The accompanying sauce is an uncommon honey chili sauce, which I don’t think pairs well; dipping them in regular ketchup would probably be better.
Milk Tea $85 (But if ordered with the burger and sides as a set, you can save $30)
The sweetness level can’t be adjusted, and I changed it to less ice, but it still tasted too sweet. I recommend keeping the original amount of ice for a better balance. It should be cream milk tea, and aside from its excessive sweetness, I actually liked it quite a bit.
Overall, the prices are on the higher side of average, and the portions are quite generous. However, the flavor of the dishes did not suit my palate, so I can only give it 2 stars. I’m adding an extra 0.5 stars because the space was quite comfortable.
