The Jeju pork soup has a rich and smooth texture, similar to large intestine noodle soup, but the portion is larger, which may make it feel a bit greasy. The mung bean pancake is slightly spicy, crispy on the outside and hearty on the inside, making it suitable for sharing among a group.
The inside and outside of the restaurant are crowded with people, showcasing the restaurant's popularity and lively atmosphere.
The staff provide a Chinese menu, and the takeout service is quick, allowing you to pick up your meal in about 10 minutes.
【Foodholic Niko @ Jeju Island, South Korea】
"The Yujin Hangover Soup" is located in the northern part of Jeju Island, not far from the airport, making it our first stop in Jeju. After getting off the plane and picking up our car, we headed straight there to eat.
Even though it was only 9 AM, the restaurant was packed inside and out, including the parking lot, showcasing its popularity. We decisively opted for takeout and ate in the car.
The staff member handed me a menu in Chinese to choose from. For takeout, we only waited about 10 minutes to get our meal.
Since we don’t eat beef, we ordered the Jeju Pork Soup for ₩10,000. This is a traditional dish from Jeju Island, said to have been a wedding feast dish in the past. The preparation method involves cooking fernbrake and pork until done, then tearing them apart by hand and simmering them in pork rib soup. The first taste reminded me of Taiwan's large intestine noodles, and the pork and fernbrake inside were very fine, giving a smooth texture. However, I wasn’t sure if it was because I wasn’t very hungry so early in the morning, or if the portion was really too large, but we felt a bit overwhelmed after eating about half a bowl, leaving the rest unfinished.
We also ordered a mung bean pancake for ₩15,000. The pancake was slightly spicy, and the sauce had added Cheongyang peppers, and it was delicious either way, dipped or not. The edges were crisp, and overall it was quite hearty with a large portion. I recommend sharing among more people as we felt really stuffed with just the two of us enjoying it alongside the bowl of pork soup.
