The meals are generally above average, and I highly recommend the mixed seafood pancake and the Korean lettuce wrap with meat. The seafood pancake is filled with delicious ingredients, and the lettuce wrap has a rich flavor. The set meal is enough for four people, but the portion sizes of some dishes are slightly unevenly distributed.
The dining environment is clean and bright, making it very suitable for gatherings. There are many shopping options nearby, and the location is convenient.
The service staff are friendly, providing unlimited side dishes and fresh vegetables, which enhances the dining experience.
This time, my friends and I met at "Pear Orchard Korean BBQ" in Xinyi ATT. We chose the NT$2388 four-person set menu, which includes a variety of categories, with each category allowing us to select one dish. Here are our choices and dining experiences.
🥗 Appetizer Salad - Caesar Smoked Salmon Salad
This salad is lightly seasoned, and the smoked salmon is less oily and not salty compared to what’s commonly found in the market, making it suitable for those who prefer milder flavors. The salmon has no fishy taste and pairs well with the vegetables. However, the salmon shape depicted in the menu looks beautiful, but in reality, it’s just simply rolled, which was a bit disappointing.
🍗 Chef’s Recommendation - Korean Half-and-Half Fried Chicken
We could choose two sauces for the fried chicken, and we selected honey and cheese. The honey flavor is slightly sweet, while the cheese has a richer taste that pairs better with the fried chicken; personally, I prefer the latter. The grilled corn that comes with it tastes average, and it’s a bit awkward that the four-person set only includes three pieces.
🥞 Classic Series - Mixed Seafood Pancake
This pancake is highly recommended; it’s loaded with seafood, and nearly every bite contains seafood, making it very flavorful. Although it comes with a small plate of sauce, the seasoning of the pancake itself is already quite sufficient, making it one of the highlights of the meal.
🍝 Recommended by Korea - Ginger Tiger Korean Sauce Pasta
This pasta is flavored with Korean sauces and is paired with a variety of seafood. The noodles have a unique chewy texture that comes from fresh pasta. The Korean sauce has a slight spiciness, suitable for those who enjoy bold flavors; friends who don't like spicy food might need to take note. I personally really liked this dish.
🧀 Selected Fried Snacks - Cheese Fried Rice Cake
The rice cake has a chewy texture, and the outer sauce is very flavorful. However, the interior is a bit hard to season, which may not be appealing for those who don’t like rice cakes. There are also mushrooms and sausages in the same basket, which I actually preferred more. If you’re a rice cake lover, this dish would suit you better.
🥬 Iron Fire BBQ - Korean Lettuce Wrap with Meat
The meat has an even distribution of fat, complemented with garlic, pickled radish, and raw onions, creating a rich flavor. The lettuce wrap is a very interesting and tasty way to enjoy the meat. Both the lettuce and side dishes can be refilled infinitely, which is a nice bonus.
🍲 Tofu Hotpot Series - Itaewon Sea and Land Silken Tofu Hotpot
The broth is sweet and fresh, the tofu is tender, and the essence of the seafood is infused into the soup, which has a slight kimchi aroma and spiciness, with a medium level of heat. There are shrimp in the soup, which may require avoidance for those who don’t like peeling shrimp, but overall, it was outstanding.
🥤 Drinks and Desserts
We chose milk cap red tea for drinks and ice cream for dessert. The milk cap red tea has a balanced sweetness and is average, while the ice cream is a bit on the sweet side, but overall not bad.
🏠 Overall Evaluation
Dining environment: The space is clean and bright, suitable for group gatherings, conveniently located with many shopping options nearby.
Dish performance: The overall taste of the dishes is above average, particularly recommending the Mixed Seafood Pancake and Korean Lettuce Wrap with Meat. However, the quantity distribution in the set menu is slightly uneven, for example, three pieces of grilled corn for a four-person set seems unreasonable.
Price and portion: The portion of the set menu is substantial; four people can definitely eat their fill. Although the price is relatively high, the overall experience is worthwhile.
This is a great Korean BBQ restaurant for gatherings, and if I have the chance to come to the Xinyi area again, I would consider revisiting!
