Jiubird Private House is located in an alley on the third section of Zhongxiaodong Road. The storefront is discreet, about a five-minute walk from Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station. There is a prominent neon sign at the entrance.

#Open During Lunar New Year
The establishment maintains that Hong Kong people have a strong work ethic, and will be open until the third day of the Lunar New Year holiday. From January 28 to January 31, 6 PM to 12 AM.

Today, I enjoyed the Purple Drunk Gold Enchantment, Yangzhi Ganlu, and Gin Tonic, totaling 1,188 TWD, including a 10% service charge.

Purple Drunk Gold Enchantment:
Inspired by Hong Kong's legendary nightlife hotspot, Lan Kwai Fong. The description provided by the establishment states: “Floral,” “Herbal,” “Sparkling.”

This is a creative cocktail based on gin. It is presented under a glass dome filled with smoke, and when opened, the swirling smoke reveals a mesmerizing purple-blue drink. The cocktail includes elements like lavender, osmanthus, grapes, and butterfly pea flower. The mouthfeel is smooth with a light floral aroma, and the sweetness and acidity from the grapes are well balanced. The light bitterness from the Campari in the finish symbolizes the emptiness one feels upon waking after a night of excess.

Yangzhi Ganlu:
A cocktail named after a classic dessert. The establishment describes it as: “Just,” “Yangzhi,” “Ganlu.” Coconut oil-washed rum is mixed with fresh milk and sweet mango, complemented by a hint of tart grapefruit. It is slightly sweeter but not cloying. The bouncy grapefruit pearls are delicious and fun. Although the alcoholic taste is low, the alcohol content seems to be quite high.

Gin Tonic:
A classic version, with classic tonic water and a few lemon slices. It presents a stable overall performance, fresh and refreshing.

Overall, it is a Hong Kong-style gastropub that offers privacy and quality. I was already full that day, so I didn’t have the chance to taste the food, but I would like to go back to try it properly.

The name Jiubird comes from "jiu" (pigeon), which in Cantonese can refer to the male reproductive organ. The cocktail “Sizai Wu Gezi” refers in Cantonese to adult content without censorship. After all, it's something that can only be enjoyed by those over 18, so playful adult references are quite natural.

The decor is filled with a Hong Kong atmosphere, with soft, warm lighting. If you want to experience the flavors of Hong Kong from the 70s and 80s, this would be a great place to go.

Highly recommended to everyone!
