In terms of the rarity of the food, I would recommend it;
but if we're talking about regular dining, I wouldn't recommend it (💰).
To sum it up👉 the food is delicious, but the rest of the experience is average.
On the weekend, we gathered with friends for a meal,
and we were attracted by the rarity of the food,
so we chose to eat at this Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki place,
after all, as far as I know, there are only two places selling Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki in Taiwan.
(Taipei & Taichung)
I’ll leave the food comments below👀
Let’s talk about the other experiences!
🅿️ Parking nearby is extremely difficult
The shop is relatively close to the train station, so taking public transport (bus, train) is very convenient; it’s less than a 10-minute walk from the station.
However, on the flip side, the area is also a commercial district, a thoroughfare, and a transfer station, so even if there are motorcycle and car parks, they are hard to find, and the paid parking isn't cheap either.
In the end, I parked in the parking lot under a department store,
which has a larger number of spots and better turnover,
but it also depends on the time; during busy hours, it’s still hard to find a spot.
🍽️ About dining
⏳ Dining time limit: 60 minutes
This time limit really shocked me; there's enough time to eat,
but if you want to be a little leisurely and chat, the time feels very tight.
🚪 Queue outside and order from outside before being seated
The business seems really good, and customers are all restricted by the staff at the door.
You have to queue first, order outside (and they don’t accept additional orders in between), and only after that, the staff will let you in to sit down.
If it’s full, you can only wait outside.
This is also why I mentioned I don’t recommend it for regular dining,
we happened to come at noon, and the sun was blazing,
the shop didn’t open early but only at noon.
We arrived at the door around 11:40 to start queuing,
but we still had to wait until 12:00 for the staff to begin taking orders and letting people in.
Although I understand the shop has its own rules…
it’s quite tiring to be under the scorching noon sun like this...
If it’s friends who want to try something new,
I would still consider this place,
but for regular dining, I probably wouldn’t want to come specifically.
#Authentic Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki #Must-visit in Taichung
2024.07.12 Store Visit - Yu Tie Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki Specialty Store
It is a sister store of the famous Taipei restaurant Chi Tie Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki!
The decor combines traditional Japanese and Western-style elements.
The restaurant also features stunning crystal chandeliers~
They start by placing ingredients like cabbage on a thin batter,
then stack and grill it with fried noodles and thin omelette,
and finally drench it with abundant sauce to create Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki!
🍽️ Mentaiko Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki $360
Vegetables, Pork, Egg, Mentaiko
The mentaiko sauce made from cod roe combined with the decorative design is truly beautiful.
This dish is a must for photo-taking!
I must say the portion is quite generous; I recommend sharing if you have a small appetite!
🍽️ Western-style Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki $360
Vegetables, Pork, Egg, Shrimp, Avocado, Tomato
This flavor is lighter, enhanced by the aroma of vegetables and fruits.
The shrimp is very crunchy! I prefer this flavor over the mentaiko.
🥘 Chicken Meatballs $260
Five meatballs on a hot plate paired with a raw egg yolk look especially appetizing.
The chicken meat combines cleverly with chicken cartilage,
and the special Japanese sauce brushed on gives a perfect salty flavor.
With the addition of three-star onions, it merges well with Japanese traditional sauces and spices.
Taking a bite is juicy and tender! This dish is a must-try.
🍮 Japanese Caramel Crème Brûlée $80
Served with a crispy caramel crust that gives off a rich sweetness after being torched,
the soft crème brûlée adds a crunchy caramel flavor.
