Located in downtown Taitung, "Hanzhong Baozi Shop" is a traditional eatery loved by locals. Many regular customers specifically come by in the afternoon when it opens, just to take away a few hot, handmade buns. On this day, I chose two items: bamboo shoot pork bun and taro steamed bun, for my breakfast the next day.

The bamboo shoot pork bun has a soft and slightly elastic outer skin, and when torn open, the warm aroma of the dough wafts out. The filling uses fresh ground pork and crunchy bamboo shoot cubes, generously portioned, with a full texture that is not greasy. When you take a bite, the pork juices mix with the sweet and crispy bamboo shoots, creating distinct layers, making it especially suitable for those who want a satisfying yet light savory meal in the morning.

On the other hand, the taro steamed bun has a completely different style. It is made by mixing diced taro into the dough before steaming. It tastes refreshing and simple, highlighting the natural flavors of the ingredients.
