The Bitter Tea House offers a variety of teas, such as herbal tea and凉汤, with a unique taste that is refreshing and not cloying. The ingredients of lotus seeds and white fungus are abundant, with a sweetness that carries a hint of honey aroma, leaving a strong impression.
The Bitter Tea House in Taipei is very pure, very authentic, very strong, and very fragrant. The Bitter Tea House has no strange taste; although it is a bit bitter, this long-established shop in Taipei has been around for so long, ensuring quality.
In addition to bitter tea, the Bitter Tea House also offers a variety of herbal teas, cassia tea, hibiscus tea, and honey tea. Besides that, there is also a juice series, but not many varieties. They also sell cool soups and icy treats, which are perfect for hot weather.
Today, I ordered the lotus seed and white fungus dessert. The portion was quite generous, leaving me very satisfied. The soup is not sweet and has a hint of osmanthus fragrance. The white fungus is crisp, and although the lotus seeds and taro aren’t so tender that they melt in the mouth, their sweetness carries a slight aroma of cream or honey, which is different from the usual taste of boiled cane sugar! It's not too sweet, and I really like it!
I also ordered the herbal tea, known for its ability to clear heat and detoxify, and promote liver health and dampness relief. It mainly uses herbal ingredients like mulberry leaves, mint, and licorice. The tea soup is clear with a yellowish tinge; it enters the mouth sweet and smooth with a hint of bitterness, leaving a cool aftertaste. Paired with hawthorn, it has a slightly sour and mildly sweet flavor, making it extremely refreshing.
