Closed from the Little New Year's Eve to the first day of the New Year (1/27-29), resuming business on the second day of the New Year (1/30).

"Happiness Dessert Teami Lu" is located around Dihua Street, not far from Dadaocheng. It's a great spot to visit during the New Year market shopping and enjoy some desserts.

Inside the shop are just the boss and the boss's wife. As soon as we entered, the boss's wife greeted us warmly, asked if we had been there before, and introduced us to the signature items.

I saw many online recommendations for the taro sago, but since I’m not a fan of taro, I originally planned to order the purple rice and barley sago. Unfortunately, the purple rice was sold out.

In the end, I ordered the red bean barley sago (warm) for $80 and the almond dessert (cold) for $90.

Both desserts had a very low sweetness level; I would believe it was sugar-free, as the sweetness mainly came from the red beans themselves. So, even though it is dessert, it doesn’t feel too guilty.

You actually can’t eat the barley itself in the red bean barley sago; instead, it uses barley paste as the base. The almond dessert is based on almond tea, and both dishes contain red beans and small tapioca pearls.

To be honest, I wish the sweetness could be a little higher to feel more like a dessert.

Overall, it's a cozy little shop with a warm atmosphere. When we were about to leave, the boss even recommended checking out the nearby Guo Yimei bookstore. The taste of the dishes was okay, and in the future, if I happen to be near Dihua Street and crave dessert, I would consider visiting again.
