I recently saw a lot of short videos featuring New Mei Xiang curry, so I decided to give it a try. Initially, I was planning to order curry rice 🍛, but then I noticed they had a Tuesday special of Mapo Tofu, so I quickly changed my order to the Mapo Tofu set meal.
When ordering, I used a QR code system. Upon entering the website, I could also input a nickname and there was a cute animal feature, which was done quite well and was innovative.
As for the meal, I personally believe the Mapo Tofu had both the numbing and spicy flavors, but they were both slightly lacking. So, I went ahead and added the restaurant's homemade chili sauce (super spicy) to balance out the spiciness that Mapo Tofu should have. Overall, it looked very oily, but it didn’t feel that way when eating. The ground meat and tofu were at a decent level for typical Mapo Tofu. I also added thick-cut fried bacon, and I must say, if you see it, you definitely have to order it 🥹. It was really fragrant and delicious! The freshly fried bacon with its crispy coating combined with the greasy bacon was absolutely top-notch.
In summary:
Service: 5/5. The staff even celebrated with us when we cheered for the first group, adding a high emotional value 🥹.
Food: 4.5/5. The Mapo Tofu was pretty good, but it could be spicier.
