Located in Annan, Tainan, "A Zhong Crab" is one of my must-visit places every autumn, specializing in tasting seasonal fresh crabs. I usually make a reservation through Facebook in advance and pick them up after work.
This time, with a budget of 1500 TWD, the owner helped me pair a premium female sand crab with a regular red crab. When I first saw these two crabs, the crab roe of the premium female sand crab looked quite ordinary, while the red crab's roe was shiny and seemed more appealing. However, after tasting it, my impression completely changed; the premium female sand crab truly lived up to its reputation, with a rich and strong sweetness and umami in the crab roe, providing a completely different level of enjoyment—indeed, the price reflects the quality. Although the red crab was good, its flavor was noticeably milder compared to the sand crab.
Overall, the freshness of the crabs at this shop is exceptionally high. Although my budget wasn't very large, the owner still carefully selected the crabs, and I wasn't disappointed. If you are a crab lover like me, especially in the autumn, this shop is definitely worth a try.
