Bafang Yunju Lin Sen South Store is located in an alley on Lin Sen South Road. The shop is small and is near National Taiwan University Hospital and Shandao Temple MRT Station. Although their specialty is dumplings and potstickers, they quietly won a gold medal in last year's beef noodle competition.
Today, I enjoyed the spicy beef noodles, priced at 178 NT dollars.
Spicy Beef Noodles:
The spiciness is moderate and gradual, not too overwhelming for the throat. Those who love spice might find it not hot enough, but it’s a level that most people can enjoy. When the meal is served, the staff will ask if you want to add pickled vegetables; if you do, they will personally add it for you, and the amount added is generous. The mildly spicy and slightly sour pickled vegetables add a lot of layers to the broth.
The beef is a standard mix of tendon and meat. The beef is stewed until tender, not tough, and easy to chew; the tendon has a chewy yet slightly sticky texture, with a noticeable gelatinous feel, though it has a bit of toughness from the connective tissues.
The noodles are standard wide flat white noodles, with a chewy texture and good at soaking up the soup. The side dishes include greens and white radish, which is stewed until tender and sweet.
Overall, it’s a chain dumpling restaurant with consistently good quality meals. The dining area has a Q-shaped flow, which can feel a bit crowded during peak hours. It’s common for the chairs to shake a bit when someone walks by in the aisle behind.
The service is relatively fast, with meals served in about five minutes after ordering. The efficiency of the chain is evident.
I recommend it to everyone.
