👀 Manteigaria, a famous egg tart shop from Portugal, lands in Macau in early 2025, marking its first store in Asia. The exterior is understated yet stylish, and the store features an open kitchen where you can see the chefs making egg tarts on-site, with a simple and bright overall layout.

🥧 I bought one (MOP12) to eat on-site, and the crust was very crispy. The filling was smooth and dense, with a higher sweetness, and the egg flavor was not very pronounced, tasting more like the creamy filling in a cream bread, complemented by a hint of cinnamon that was mild and not overpowering. They also provide cinnamon powder and powdered sugar to add yourself, which enhances the aroma with more depth.

🎁 Finally, I took six pieces (MOP70) to take back to Taiwan. The packaging is a slender paper box, with two egg tarts stacked together; compared to the rectangular boxes used by Margaret or Andrew, this design not only looks more stylish but also makes it less likely to crush the tarts. The accompanying paper bag also has good quality, making it a presentable gift. Overall, this place is suitable for those who enjoy a smooth creamy taste with a sweeter profile; if you prefer a stronger egg flavor and a fresher taste, you might be more accustomed to the styles of the other two shops.
