📍Located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (inside Nanmen Market)
Originated in 1947|Specialty store for various types of Chinese snacks and pastries🥮🥠
The store is situated at the entrance of Nanmen Market, occupying a total of two stalls, with a designated line for customers. If you want to buy the store’s signature sponge cake, you will need to wait in line.
I arrived around 4 or 5 PM on a weekday, and there were still plenty of items on the shelves and many people buying.
🥮
Items ordered:
▫️Mung Bean Cake ($50):
The whole cake is dry and hard, lacking the fragrance of peeled mung beans—would not recommend!
▫️Savory Mung Bean Cake with Herb ($30):
The skin is pleasantly chewy, and the savory mung bean filling has added ginger, giving it a nostalgic flavor.
▫️Brown Sugar Cake ($80):
Very chewy, with sufficient brown sugar flavor—delicious!
▫️Brown Sugar Two-Color Twisted Roll ($100):
Though named brown sugar, it has a scent more similar to red sugar, and the dough is quite ordinary.
🍄
Would I visit again: I would think about buying it again only if I happen to pass by 🤔
I wouldn’t make a special trip! If you want to eat chewy foods, I recommend the brown sugar cake and herb cake!
