On the evening before the New Year, I thought Taipei would be a ghost town, so I went to Honghui to find something to eat. To my surprise, I was greatly mistaken—perhaps everyone from New Taipei staying for the New Year came to Honghui. Every restaurant was packed with people waiting in line, and the food court had hardly any available seats. In the end, I saw that 21st Century still had some free tables, so I went straight in.
When I was younger, I wasn't very fond of 21st Century; at that time, I preferred KFC and McDonald's. But after taking A-Dian there once, I noticed that their meals have become quite plentiful. In addition to fried and roasted chicken, they also offer rice and warm vegetables, which are great for kids. On that day, I observed that around 80% of the customers were families with children.
I discovered that they have many promotional combo meals that look quite similar, making it just as confusing as at KFC 😵💫. In the end, I ordered a half-roasted chicken meal, which included a half-roasted chicken, a large portion of warm vegetables, a small fries, and a drink. The roasted chicken was not dry, and it paired quite well with their chicken gravy spicy sauce, which was delicious. Personally, I love the warm vegetables; they had a variety (broccoli, cabbage, bell peppers, green beans 🥬, etc.), and they had a salty flavor on their own, so no additional sauce was necessary. The fries were just mediocre; I still prefer McDonald's, while my daughter believes any fries 🍟 are delicious. For the drink, I ordered honey green tea, which you can't typically find at fast-food places, and it was quite good.
Overall, I feel that the current menu is very suitable for children. After all, moms might prefer to give their kids roasted chicken instead of fried chicken, and it also includes rice and vegetables. Unfortunately, there's no 21st Century near my home 😭.
