This is "Fish Ball Uncle" located on Jiufen Old Street, close to the entrance, so you don’t have to walk too deep to find it. The sign inside indicates that the restaurant mainly offers fish ball-related dishes, and the menu is quite simple with only six items:
What I actually ordered was the Store Combo, and the price for the three-item combo is the same as ordering them individually. The broth of the fish ball soup is light, and the fish balls have a chewy texture. The dry vermicelli and tofu pockets are both seasoned with a bit of sweet and spicy sauce, which is slightly spicy, so be cautious if you’re afraid of spice.
The environment is small but has a decent atmosphere with school-style tables and chairs. There are quite a few people, and the seating inside is tight. It’s worth mentioning that most of the staff are foreign migrant workers; they are quick and efficient but not very interactive, and their attitude is standard. However, at this price point in a tourist area, it is considered affordable, especially compared to other shops in the old street, where the cost-performance ratio is quite good. If you just entered the old street and want to quickly grab some savory food to fill your stomach, this place is a good choice.
