I heard that a new yakitori restaurant opened in Nakazakicho, so I went to check it out 🐔
The place is called YAKITORI DINER THE HICKORY BIRD Umeda, and the nearest station is Nakazakicho Station on the Osaka Metro 🚃
The interior is American-themed, and they also serve dishes inspired by American cuisine 🇺🇸
For drinks, I had:
The appetizer included:
For the main course, I tried:
Carpaccio made from Kyotaka chicken breast 🐔, served with a squeeze of lemon 🍋. The chicken was grilled, tender, aromatic, and delicious 🐔.
Tsukune with a moon-viewing egg 🌕.
Chicken breast with ume 🐔.
Grilled Kyotaka chicken negima 🐔.
Chicken wings with Cajun spices 🐔🇺🇸.
Yakitori sauce chicken liver 🐔.
The tsukune with moon-viewing egg 🌕 used Ranou egg yolk and was quite rich 🥚. The fluffy tsukune, with a nice char, combined beautifully with the egg yolk for a rich and delicious flavor 🐔.
The chicken breast with ume 🐔 was tender and slightly pink in the middle, which made it delicious. It paired nicely with the ume, providing a refreshing taste ✨.
The Kyotaka chicken negima 🐔 was also soft, and the scallions tasted sweet and delicious. While negima is usually associated with sauce, it was delicious with just salt 🧂. The Jidori chicken was rich in flavor and very satisfying 🐔.
The Cajun-spiced chicken wings 🐔🇺🇸 were generously coated with American Cajun spices ✨. They were tender with great spice flavor, making them incredibly delicious 🇺🇸.
The chicken liver with yakitori sauce 🐔 was tender and melted in my mouth. It was served with a slightly sweet sauce that had little to no unpleasant odor, making it enjoyable and tasty 🐔.
For the shrimp 🦐, they also used Cajun spices 🔥. I squeezed lemon onto it and ate it whole 🍋. The shells were crispy, and the meat was plump and delicious. The spices had good flavor and perfectly complemented the lemon 🦐.
The roast beef 🐮 was also served on a skewer. It came with:
The roast beef was tender with a delicious sauce, and everything paired beautifully 🐮. The mashed potatoes and whole grain mustard were great together 🔥.
The gumbo soup 🥣 was made with okra. It’s a specialty from Louisiana 🇺🇸, filled with shrimp and chicken, along with rice cooked in chicken broth 🦐🐔. It also had Cajun spices 🔥. The soup was flavorful but gentle on the palate, making it delicious 🥣. The okra was soft and tasty 🥣, while the chicken was tender, and the shrimp were soft enough to eat with the shells 🐔🦐. The rice was already delicious on its own, but even better with the soup 🍚.
The owner was also a fun person, and I had a wonderful time 😊.
It was a new and unique yakitori restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed it 🐔🇺🇸.
