Taipei Tianmu - A family and pet-friendly restaurant, with ingredients that are healthy and recognizable in their natural form; overall, the prices are on the higher side. We were a party of four and shared a hot pot in the form of a "Yuan Yang" (dual pot), and the other half had to sit across from us. The dining space is quite large. There is a children's play area in the basement, which looks fine.
You can choose to order a la carte or upgrade to a set meal for an additional NT$250 (which includes the soup base, vegetable platter, side dishes, and dessert, plus ten clams as a bonus).
Usually, people come here to order the set meal, right? Otherwise, what are you going to eat without the soup base and the vegetable platter? XDDD
▶️ For the soup base, we chose "White Sugarcane Broth (Signature)" and "Milk Cheese Broth (with an upgrade fee of NT$100)".
🔹 White Sugarcane Broth: This is truly the restaurant's signature dish; it tastes super fresh and sweet, and it’s very flavorful! I recommend the original flavor soup base!
🔹 Milk Cheese Broth: Honestly, I've had this at many places, and this one doesn't have much flavor because it’s really just fresh milk that's cooked without additives, so it becomes really simple. If you like a rich soup base, you might not like this.
▶️ Main dishes:
📍 Beef Short Ribs 6oz NT$600
🌕🌕🌕🌖🌑 The quality of the meat is pretty decent! However, the price is really high. It’s not too oily or tough; it has a bit of chewiness.
📍 Lamb Chops 3oz NT$250
🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 There’s a slight gamey taste to the lamb! It’s an acceptable flavor! It should be frozen meat slices!
▶️ Side dishes:
🔹 Vegetable Platter: Overall, the vegetables are quite fresh, no hot pot ingredients, and there’s healthy kelp!
🔹 White Rice and Knife-Cut Noodles: The knife-cut noodles are delicious; they have a nice chewiness, highly recommended for noodle lovers!!
🔹 The set meal comes with clams: they aren't too big, but overall they are fresh, I approve!
🔹 For dessert, the staff will bring a menu for us to choose from; I chose chocolate ice cream, offered as a whole ice cream bar, it tastes quite premium!
▶️ Environment
🔹 The dining area is very spacious, with a first floor and a basement. It can roughly accommodate 40 to 50 people.
🔹 The decor is bright and clean.
🔹 Drinks include lemonade and honey water.
🔹 The sauce area has a homemade satay sauce with dried shrimp, which has a unique flavor.
▶️ Helpful reminders
🔹 There is a minimum spending of NT$300 per person (for those over 140cm), and the set meals are only for the designated guests and cannot be counted towards the minimum spend.
🔹 This restaurant does not charge a service fee.
▶️ Overall evaluation
🔹 A family-friendly hot pot restaurant near Tianmu, with spacious seating that’s not crowded, suitable for dining with children. However, the prices are on the higher side, reflecting the quality of the ingredients and the environment!
