🥜 Taitung City ▫️ on Zhengqi Road
🥜 A popular handmade mochi shop that has been around since 1934
Shouldn’t I bring some local gifts home before I leave? ❔
Let’s head to the mochi shop that my friend has been craving! ❗️
The last time we went to Hualien
my friend specifically asked if we would pass by
Unfortunately, the train wasn't scheduled conveniently
But this time on our trip to Taitung, we didn't need our friend to say a word
We just bought some on the same day and delivered it right to our home 🫶🏻
Upon arrival, it truly lives up to its reputation as a famous local specialty shop
The crowd was already lined up outside
Thankfully, all we needed to do was choose the flavors, and they bagged or boxed it up for us
The process moved quite quickly
This time I planned to buy a mixed box (12 pieces)
Originally it should have included red bean, mung bean, peanut
Sesame, black mochi, and green tea in pairs
But due to its popularity🔥
Some flavors were temporarily sold out
So I asked the shopkeeper to just fill a box from what was on display 👍🏻
And I additionally purchased a few pieces of swordfish, green tea, and peanut separately
Hoping to share one with myself, my partner, and my family to try
➰ Swordfish Mochi 28🐟
For someone like me, who loves savory food more than sweet
I found the swordfish flavor to be really cool
Made with round glutinous rice from Chihshang for the outer layer
Combined with seaweed sugar and tapioca starch
The highlight of this piece is the fillings — swordfish floss
The outer layer was soft and chewy, and the aroma of glutinous rice was delightful
But there was still a slight subtle clash when biting into the filling 🤣
I can only say that it definitely lived up to the hype
These mochi are truly handmade right in front of you
Absolutely worth coming to purchase and bring home
Although it can only be stored at room temperature for 2 days
Freezing 🉑 allows it to be kept for 14 days
Whether as a gift or to savor slowly by yourself, it’s fantastic
After this special swordfish experience (?)
I will definitely try a sweet flavor next time ✨
