📍Zhongzheng District, Taipei City (Guting MRT Station)
A small and exquisite Japanese restaurant 🇯🇵🍣
This place has been on my Fooday wishlist for a long time 😆 Reservations on weekends are necessary because many walk-ins that day find there are no available seats.
I visited on a super cold day during a cold wave, and I hesitate to recommend it because the restaurant has no heating, and the large glass windows made the indoor environment extremely cold 🥶
🥘
Order items:
🐟 Taiwanese Donburi ($480):
The sashimi don seems to be the restaurant's signature dish, and I wanted to try it despite the cold 😆
The fish used in this dish is all sourced from Taiwan, featuring sweet shrimp, abalone, octopus, five pieces of sashimi, and mullet roe.
My favorite was the red fish sashimi (I guess it's red snapper?), and I also really liked the mullet roe, which is quite rare in rice bowls! It has a very high saltiness.
🐠 Grilled Flounder Fin Donburi ($480):
Both types of fish were excellent 🥰
The salmon, while seared, still retained a sweet and fresh taste close to that of raw fish.
All donburi comes with soup, and that day's was a deep-colored cuttlefish miso soup. It had a nice seafood flavor!
🥚 Grilled Scallop Chawanmushi ($160):
I urgently needed something hot that day, so I ordered this 😆
To my surprise, it was incredibly impressive!
The grilled scallop was very tender, and the texture of the chawanmushi was one of the finest I’ve ever had. Plus, the egg custard was infused with the flavor of scallops, and at the bottom, I found shredded scallops.
🍄
Would I visit again? Yes!
The portions are not large, but all the ingredients are very fresh and delicious. Next time, I’ll choose a day that’s not so cold to come back 🤣
