I haven't eaten at Ding Wang for a long time. I couldn't make a reservation online, but I arrived at the restaurant around five o'clock and found that there was no line and seats available. This branch just opened recently, and the overall environment feels quite new.
The staff provided bibs to avoid soup splattering on our clothes, which was really considerate for me since I was wearing white that day. I don't know why, but the teapot was hard to use and kept spilling tea everywhere. The flavor of the spicy hot pot broth was pretty good and not uncomfortably spicy. Personally, besides meat, I always order fried dough sticks when I eat spicy hot pot. I prefer them cooked until soft. The selected beef and pork combo was really delicious, the sea bream was also fresh, and the crab paste was okay. I felt that the portion of meatballs was a bit too much for two people. The broth already came with duck blood and tofu, and since it was still during the opening period, they offered us a serving of salty crispy pork, which I thought was quite tasty.
You can add duck blood and tofu for free, and white rice is available for self-service on the side, so basically, there's no problem with not getting enough to eat. With all that, two people felt a bit overstuffed. The staff had a good attitude and frequently asked if we wanted to add soup or duck blood and tofu. The meal quality was stable, but since they had already charged for the broth base, it felt a bit unreasonable to charge an additional fee for ordering a divided pot. Also, I found it strange that the restroom was located in a nearby building, and parking around the area was not very convenient.
