Nene Chicken in Yongkang, Tainan, is a Korean fried chicken specialty store. My previous impression of Korean fried chicken was that it is high in calories, deep-fried, and slathered in sauces, often resulting in a soggy skin that lacks flavor. I've had similar experiences at many small shops or night market stalls, but after trying Nene Chicken, my perspective has completely changed.
So far, I've only tried the original and spicy tteokbokki flavors, both of which are delicious. This time I ordered the spicy tteokbokki fried chicken, and the taste of the spicy sauce is incredibly satisfying—full of strong spiciness without being too harsh on the throat, making it perfect for those who love spicy food. The coating of the fried chicken is very crispy, combined with juicy chicken meat, creating a rich texture. With each bite, you first experience the crunch, followed by an explosion of meat juices, making it absolutely irresistible.
Also, this was my first time dining in; previously, I've always taken it to go. Surprisingly, if you take it to go, they include a can of Coke, but there’s no such offer for dining in, which is somewhat confusing. However, overall, Nene Chicken performed exceptionally well, both in the quality of the fried chicken and the seasoning of the sauces. I recommend this place to friends who love Korean fried chicken; it's definitely worth a try.
