🍳 Chiayi East District ▫️ Dongmen Circle
🍳 A chance encounter with turkey rice at the corner! Market brunch
How can you come to Chiayi without eating turkey rice⁉️
To be honest, I didn’t originally plan to eat it,
but I couldn’t resist my partner’s love for street food,
so I had to skip the bustling, crowded popular places
and find a spot that sells souvenirs along the way
and has good reviews👣
I firmly believe that great food can always be found in markets.
This place happens to be located around the public retail market,
with early morning stalls selling a variety of cooked and raw food
and the atmosphere bustling with energy🔥
This shop is right at a prominent corner,
and many elderly customers come in and out,
asking the shop if there are any tilapia🐟
or if there’s anything interesting available.
Since we arrived around noon☀️,
many items had already sold out, as they open at 6:30 AM,
but fortunately, after ordering, I found out there were only a few steamed eggs left,
so I was lucky to get one, which was great👍🏻
After checking out, I realized that the two bowls of chicken rice + steamed egg
only cost 80 NT dollars, which is incredibly cheap.
(I wasn’t paying attention while ordering🤦🏻♀️)
The steamed eggs are not just plain; they have fish cake🍥, corn🌽, and clams in them.
The chicken rice has perfectly paired meat, rice, and sauce.
If you don’t mind the not-so-great environment in the market,
plus the lack of air conditioning, only a standing fan,
you might end up sweating while eating,
but I highly recommend this place💯.
Especially considering how crowded both Guojia and Ah Hong's restaurant were the night before,
I feel that simply following the locals to eat is an absolutely correct choice✨.
