Every time I come here, there's a long line. If there are many people, the sesame cakes are freshly baked and sold on the spot. I've had the sesame cake that came out of the oven before, and it was super delicious! Plus, the older boss is very friendly and even tells everyone that health is important, haha.
This time I visited Shilin Night Market and bought one again; I got the sweet sesame cake with red bean flavor. There were many foreigners in line, and I wonder if it’s because red bean isn’t a popular choice. By the time I got mine, it had already cooled down. The pastry wasn’t chewy and was rather dry and hard, and there wasn't much filling—felt a bit disappointing...

In conclusion, I think the sesame and peanut sesame cakes are worth trying, but you have to assess the crowd. If there's no line, what you get will likely be cold. However, I still want to try their soy milk and fried dough sticks next time! 😋
