When dining in Taichung, I chose the familiar chain brand Cang Sushi. Although it wasn't my first time eating there, this type of conveyor belt sushi restaurant, where you can quickly place your orders and receive dishes consistently, is always particularly appealing when you're really hungry. The restaurant maintains a consistent Japanese style, with orderly and bright seating, and the ordering system is convenient, making the dining experience very smooth overall.
That day, I initially planned to just have a few plates of sushi, but because I was so hungry, I couldn't help but order a bowl of tonkotsu ramen as well. The sushi maintained Cang Sushi's usual standards, with offerings like salmon, seared varieties, and some creative flavors. The taste was stable—not particularly stunning, but also unlikely to disappoint, making it a safe choice when craving sushi.
Surprisingly, the standout was the bowl of tonkotsu ramen. I didn’t have high expectations for ramen at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but the broth was richer than I imagined, with a savory pork flavor that wasn't overly salty. The noodles also had a good texture and weren't mushy. Overall, it was quite well-executed. For a situation where I just wanted something warm to fill my stomach, this bowl of ramen exceeded expectations and was even more enjoyable than some budget ramen shops.
In the end, the ramen that I ordered because I was too hungry became the most memorable dish of the meal, turning out to be a little unexpected delight.
