The "Yuan Shuang Yuan BBQ Rice Specialty Store" is located on Hsuchang Street, right behind the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store at the station. The large yellow sign is quite eye-catching, and the menu is simple and straightforward.
Today, I enjoyed the special hidden edition, priced at 120 TWD.
Special Hidden Edition:
In short, it has a bit of everything—shredded chicken for the chicken rice, large pieces of grilled meat, juicy karaage, and more. The sauce is quite good, sweet but not overwhelming, nicely bringing out the rich meat flavors. The side dishes are standard; the pickled vegetables, glass noodles, and cabbage are all decent. There’s also a fried egg, which is a nice surprise for this price range.
The fresh chili peppers in the store are also good, with a decent level of spiciness that really adds flavor and depth. The rice has a firmer texture, but when combined with the BBQ sauce, I found it very delicious.
Overall, it’s a nice bento shop. I visited around 3 PM, and perhaps because the store was preparing for the next batch of bentos, it was a bit chaotic, resulting in limited seating. However, considering the deliciousness of the meal and the moderately priced offerings around the Taipei Main Station area, I would definitely come back to try other dishes.
I recommend it to everyone.
