Located near the Big City in Hsinchu, "Daydream" appears to have potential for social media photos based on its decor, and its environment design clearly targets the younger crowd—especially the student market. However, this dining experience deeply illustrated the saying "good for photos, not for eating," as it was a barely edible (Taiwanese-style) Italian restaurant situated right next to middle and high schools.

This time I ordered the "牛魔王松露奶油飯" (Beef King Truffle Cream Rice).
I was genuinely craving truffles that day, but it turned out to be a disastrous experience. Firstly, the rice itself was so mushy that it resembled porridge, completely losing the al dente texture that risotto should have, not to mention the much-anticipated All’Onda consistency. The cream sauce failed to blend with the rice, and the aroma of the truffles was nearly non-existent. Overall, the sauce and rice were separate, making it not only unappetizing but also disjointed, as if white sauce were drizzled over overcooked porridge. I struggled to eat a quarter of it before I couldn't swallow anymore. Even though I was reluctant to waste food, I found it hard to convince myself to continue eating.

The beef was equally disappointing, being dry and poorly seasoned, resembling a reheated product made from frozen restructured meat. Whether eaten alone or paired with the main dish, it did nothing to enhance the overall flavor; it was merely "meat."

As for the "牛魔王輕食" (Beef King Light Meal),
although it used the same beef as the main course, which didn’t inspire much enthusiasm, at least the other light meal sides (lettuce, French fries, etc.) performed decently. However, given the overall uneven quality, it’s hard to say this added any points.

The "濃湯" (Cream Soup)
was somewhat normal.

In summary, Daydream feels more like a restaurant that attracts attention through decor and atmosphere rather than retaining customers with its food. While it might find a basic market targeting students, for diners who prioritize the quality of the cuisine itself, the dishes here lack sincerity and technical support, making it truly hard to recommend. I also don’t understand why it has such high Google reviews... If you're looking to enjoy truly delicious Italian cuisine here, I can only say you're really just daydreaming.
