Today, after finishing work and public business, I found it was already 2 PM. Near Beitou, there aren't many options aside from fast food during this time. Since I was very hungry, I decided to go to the Guoshou Pai Shi Er Hot Pot.
Last time I tried their peeled chili soup base and found it quite good. I like to drink soup when eating hot pot, and since I didn't bring my daughter today, I could happily choose the spicy hot pot. I paired it with a vegetable platter and a mixed meat platter of beef and pork. 🥩
The flavor of the soup base was very aromatic and they also provided two pieces of fried dough sticks. The soup tasted like it had a lot of spices and possibly some traditional Chinese herbs; it was rich and complex, not just purely spicy. Just like the peeled chili soup, they provided a separate pot of the same soup base, which ensures the flavor doesn’t fade, and that’s definitely praiseworthy. 👍 The vegetables on the platter were fresh as always, and the quality of the meat was decent, but unfortunately, there weren’t many pieces.
One downside about this branch today was that their winter melon lemon smoothie wasn't in smoothie form; it tasted more like watered-down winter melon lemon tea, which was a bit disappointing. 🙅♀️ Since my daughter wasn’t with me to share, I ended up full and didn't need dinner.
