I recently went to a wonderful teppanyaki restaurant in Shinsaibashi! 🔥
The restaurant is called Mahoroba Teppan Shinsaibashi, and it's a short walk from Osaka Metro Shinsaibashi Station. 🚃
I enjoyed the Mahoroba MIKAGE course for 16,500 yen. 🔥
The carefully selected ingredients were cooked by a top-notch chef. You can enjoy seasonal ingredients and creatively crafted sauces and cooking methods. There’s also a course featuring selected steaks and unique creations like French toast cooked on the teppan, which you can savor with all five senses.
For drinks, I had:
Apple juice 🥤
Draft beer 🍺
Here’s what I had:
A spoonful of honey
A warm seasonal vegetable parfait
A mini burger with Kagoshima-prefectured Kurip pork fillet and fruit tomato with chestnut sauce
Seasonal soup
Teppanyaki of Ezo abalone
Creative teppanyaki using seasonal vegetables
Five types of grilled vegetables
A5 Wagyu beef filet and sirloin (80g)
Garlic rice or chicken rice or okonomiyaki or yakisoba
Seasonal fruit and French toast or Awaji Island yogurt ice cream
A spoonful of honey 🍯
The honey was served at the beginning of the course to prevent a sudden spike in blood sugar.
Autumn vegetable parfait:
Yellow carrot puree 🥕,
Sweet potato puree 🍠,
Lotus root and pumpkin chips 🎃.
The sweet and creamy purees paired beautifully with the crispy chips, making it delicious. 🥕🍠🎃
Mini burger with Kagoshima Kurip pork fillet and chestnut sauce 🍔:
The buns were from the nighttime bakery Mahoroba 🥯.
The pork was raised on a diet that included chestnuts and was marinated in miso.
Both the buns and pork were grilled right in front of me, and I enjoyed them fresh.
The buns were fluffy, the pork was tender, and the tomatoes were fresh 🍅, while the chestnut cream was rich, making it incredibly delicious. 🍔
Seasonal soup:
Pumpkin potage 🎃.
It was rich and sweet, topped with crouton-style baked pumpkin, which was also delicious. 🎃
Teppanyaki of Ezo abalone 🦪:
The abalone was grilled right before my eyes and served with a burnt butter sauce 🧈.
The abalone was incredibly tender, succulent, and rich, making it absolutely delicious 😍.
The liver was also rich and delicious. 🥰
The butter sauce paired excellently, and the grilled eggplant served alongside was tasty too. 🍆
Creative teppanyaki using seasonal vegetables:
Ratatouille 🍅,
100-day-aged Parmigiano cheese 🧀,
drizzled with truffle oil. ✨
The ratatouille, simmered with lots of vegetables, was rich and full of tomato flavor, and the generous amount of cheese was wonderful, enhanced by the truffle oil — absolutely delicious.
Five types of grilled vegetables:
Onions 🧅,
Zucchini 🥒,
Lotus root,
Red-daikon radish,
Bitter melon
were served with the steak 🐮.
The slowly grilled onions were particularly sweet and incredibly delicious. 🧅
A5 Wagyu beef filet and sirloin (80g):
I had it cooked medium-rare 🐮.
They flambéed it, and the flames and aroma were fantastic. 🔥
On the plate, they served homemade garlic chips 🧄,
wasabi 🔥,
snow salt 🧂,
homemade dashi soy sauce,
and black pepper salt 🔥, guiding me on how to enjoy it. ✨
The sirloin was fatty, sweet, and super rich, and the filet was tender and juicy, making it absolutely delicious.
It was tasty on its own, but it was even better with the condiments, and I could eat it endlessly!
The soy sauce was light,
and the garlic chips with the black pepper salt were delicious too. 🧄
Snow salt plus wasabi 🧂 was particularly to my liking, but all the condiments were fantastic. 🥰
Garlic rice or chicken rice or okonomiyaki or yakisoba:
I chose garlic rice and okonomiyaki ✨.
Garlic rice 🧄:
They made it efficiently,
with eggs added, giving it a fried rice vibe. 🥚
The garlic flavor was prominent, and it was super delicious. 🧄
The miso served alongside, made with sea lettuce and tofu with a flavorful broth, was also delicious. ✨
Okonomiyaki 🔥:
It was authentic beyond my expectations!
With plenty of pork and vegetables, the vegetables were crunchy and incredibly delicious. 🥬
It had a sweet sauce and a generous amount of mayonnaise, adding to its volume!
It was fantastic on its own, but with katsuobushi, aonori, and togarashi, it was also delicious added to taste. ✨
I highly recommend it for those who want to have a hearty meal or experience Osaka flavor!
I was thoroughly satisfied with the course!!
I definitely want to go again and recommend it!!
