The snacks from the alley that I've been eating since I was little are cheap and delicious! It used to be run by a grandmother, but now sometimes a young male boss comes in to help out, so the grandma doesn't get too tired. However, the flavors haven't changed at all.
Braised pork rice (small) is 15 NT$, (large) 20 NT$. It basically consists of braised pork, pickled cucumbers, and pickled ginger, with the option to add stewed tofu or an egg for 5 NT$. The rice has a good texture, and the braised pork is just right when paired with the pickled cucumbers, elevating the overall aroma to the southern palate (where the pickled cucumbers are slightly sweet).
The soup options are mostly 10 NT$ per bowl, with a mixed soup costing 20 NT$ (2 fish balls and 2 meatballs). The clear broth is not greasy and does not feel too bland, making it quite enjoyable. Personally, I recommend the fish balls as they pair perfectly with the soup for just 10 NT$. The meatballs seem to have been boiled for a long time, so they are softer and lack that chewy texture.
Overall, at this price point, it's extremely affordable, and all the food is delicious. It's a place with great cost-performance value (I only spent 45 NT$ when I was really full). The dining area has tables and chairs, which is much cleaner compared to roadside stalls, and the dishes are all disposable, so there's no need to worry about cleanliness!
