The Nanshan Teppanyaki Yanching branch is located on Yanching Street in the Da’an District of Taipei. The nearest MRT station is the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station, Exit 2, which is about a 4-minute walk away. The interior decoration is clean and comfortable, with a high-end feel on the back wall of the teppanyaki area. The overall design uses a lot of white and light wood grain, which might be difficult to maintain.
After ordering, you can serve yourself white rice and soup, with unlimited sweet soup, drinks, and slushies available. After dining, you can settle the bill using cash or various card payments.
Today we ordered the following:
Health Double Mushroom Set ($250)
Thai Basil Beef Tendons (limited supply) ($260)
First, the vegetables were served, including cabbage and bean sprouts. The vegetables were stir-fried crisp with a mild flavor. The portion was satisfactory as shown in the photo. One portion was ordered with extra spice but it wasn’t too spicy, rather complementing the rice nicely.
The shiitake and king oyster mushrooms were stir-fried with sauce, but the portion was a bit small. The onions were fried until soft, seasoned perfectly with a bit of scallion, and accompanied by pepper and chili powder.
The beef tendons were stir-fried with Thai basil and garlic, and the meat was tender with a decent portion. It was served with coarse salt, chili powder, and garlic slices for a variety of flavors.
Overall, the meal performed slightly above average, and the self-service options were quite good, although the soup was a bit weaker. The food was served at a decent speed. The space is beautiful, and the dining experience was pleasant. If you pass by the area, it’s worth a try.
