# Open for Business During the New Year

When I went to eat, I specifically asked the store owner, and they said they would be open during the New Year, but their hours would be slightly different from normal. I initially wanted to post their holiday hours when creating a recommendation, but surprisingly, someone else had already done that.

There are really quite a few options on Beidou Meatball Street, and this "Dou Nan Meatball Shop" is a place I’ve eaten at twice; it’s relatively good among the shops on this street. Their meatballs are on the softer, chewier side, with a skin that isn’t too thick and a generous amount of meat filling, giving a satisfying feeling of fullness. The overall flavor is good; however, if you prefer a slightly crispy skin, you may not enjoy this place as much.

They have two types of chili sauce in the shop, but to be honest, the chili sauce isn’t very spicy, and it’s incredibly salty. You need to be a bit careful when using it; I recommend adding just a little because it has limited effect on enhancing flavor and can actually make the meatballs overly salty. Speaking of soup, I ordered the four herb soup, which has a decent portion. The small intestines are well-prepared, without any fishy or weird taste, which I appreciate. However, I personally think it resembles ginger small intestine soup more, as the ginger slices are plentiful, making the flavor of the four herb soup less prominent. The soup itself is still quite warming and makes for a nice combination.

Overall, this meatball shop is a standard choice, especially if you like the meatball skin to be a bit softer and chewier. However, because the entire street is filled with meatball shops and competition is fierce, there are actually quite a few others that are similarly good. I recommend trying several if you have time; you might discover some surprises. As for this shop, the solid meatball filling and clean small intestine soup are probably what would bring people back to eat here!
