🍛 Affordable chain curry with a super high value soup curry limited during the year!
Coco Ichibanya, which everyone is familiar with, is known for its affordable prices and a variety of ingredients, and the ability to choose spiciness is great as well. In Japan, you often find dishes that skew toward sweetness or only a slight spiciness, but if you love spicy food, you can get your satisfaction here 😋.
The ordering method here allows you to first choose the basic curry sauce (three types), select the amount of rice, choose the level of spiciness, and then pick your favorite toppings, offering high flexibility.
This time, I came specifically to enjoy the most anticipated limited-time soup curry of the year. You can choose the 730 yen option which only includes curry soup and vegetables, and then match it with your favorite protein. I ordered the classic grilled chicken soup curry for 1080 yen with the default level of spiciness.
Although compared to the soup curry from Hokkaido, it doesn't have as rich a spice profile, the flavor for 1080 yen is already quite good, and it's easy to find branches all over Japan.
The four pieces of grilled chicken are quite large, with the surface grilled to a slightly crispy and fragrant finish, and they also give a good amount of vegetables.
Some soup curries can be greasy because they need to fry out the spice aroma; the vegetables inside can easily absorb the oil, making things like eggplant or okra potentially less pleasant. However, Coco's is lighter, so you can really finish everything without leftovers! (But I personally really love spiced curries, so I also clear my plate at other restaurants!)
However, because the spice level is milder, I feel that for those who love spicy food, it would be better to consider adding more spice for an even tastier experience!
