✨ An affordable Korean BBQ restaurant that caters to Taiwanese tastes
✨ The staff are very friendly and professional
✨ A favorite dining spot for office workers, always packed for lunch and dinner

I really like this affordable Korean BBQ place. Just hearing the name "Ma Hi Da" gives a warm and authentic feeling.

When we sat down, it wasn't even noon yet, but soon after the lunch hour began, the restaurant quickly filled up with people. The business is really good.

The interior decoration is quite simple, with many posters of Korean stars on the walls. I must say that they keep updating the posters; I even saw a picture of the handsome actor, Kim Yoo-seok (super handsome, haha 😂).

Alright, back to the main point.

The restaurant offers a variety of Korean BBQ options, including grilled meat on brass grills and traditional Korean BBQ, as well as group meal sets. The staff are very thoughtful in recommending suitable dishes for us and provide suggestions based on our preferences and appetite. This is a great relief for those who struggle with choices.

We ordered the three-person set for $2100, which included:

  • 8 kinds of Korean side dishes
  • Brass grill BBQ (pork + beef)
  • Original flavored pork belly
  • Seafood pancake
  • Three bowls of white rice
  • Spicy tofu soup

We also ordered an additional spicy grilled pork belly. The portion for five people was just right!

The pork belly was incredibly delicious, with a beautiful and even distribution of fat and lean meat, without any off-flavors. Throughout the meal, the staff helped us grill the meat at the table, so we only needed to take photos and enjoy.

The spicy grilled pork belly was a delightful surprise. I initially thought it would just be a regular heavy-flavored dish, but the combination of the spicy sauce and sautéed onions made it so tasty. The saltiness was just right and paired well with rice. I'm glad the staff recommended this dish; it was really good!

The seafood pancake was not too greasy, with the perfect thickness and crispiness. The octopus inside was in large pieces, showing that the ingredients were quite substantial.

I personally enjoyed the side dish platter, with many pieces of perilla leaves, and the lettuce was very fresh and well-cleaned.

As for the brass grill BBQ, it was as expected—nothing too surprising but still delicious.

Other dishes were also commendable. Overall, the food at this restaurant is above standard, and you can tell that the flavors of the spicy tofu soup, stir-fried meat, and side dishes are tailored to Taiwanese tastes, not overly spicy, which I personally liked.

If you plan to visit this place, make sure to arrive early during meal times! Otherwise, during peak dining hours, the staff may be too busy to grill meat for you at the table.

Overall rating:
Food 5/5
Environment 4/5
Service 5/5

Original flavor pork belly
The staff will provide full-service grilling at the table.
The fragrant and juicy pork belly is very delicious and has no pig odor.
The clerk directly picked up the tongs by the table to quickly stir-fry the spicy grilled meat.
This spicy stir-fried pork is definitely a must-order. It's super delicious, with a rich flavor that's not overly salty. It's perfect with rice, you'll keep eating bite after bite.
Vegetable platter It has sesame leaves and lettuce wrapped with meat.
Eating spicy stir-fried pork together is super awesome!
Spicy Tofu Soup
The staff helped us stir-fry the copper plate barbecue. (Later, when we were stir-frying the second plate of beef, the staff were too busy with other customers and couldn't finish frying it for us.)
Beverage cabinet
Seafood pancakes
The small dishes The staff were very kind and even let us have a refill.

the brisket was very good and flavorful but the rest of the meats on the favorites combo were a little lackluster. i did still enjoy the beef rib, as it was pretty tender, but the pork belly was a bit thick and harder to chew. the atmosphere was nice and the servers would cook the meat for you, which was great as well. they were quick with turning the meat over and also asked how cooked we liked our meat. they also had corn cheese and steamed egg provided :) we weren’t able to eat much of it though since the meat was a lot of food haha the drinks were very good too!

One of my go-to korean bbq places when i am craving it. With good pricing and delicious food, this one is a no brainer. Parking is difficult to find due to the nature of Uptown, but you can always park at the starling mall and walk up. Do pay your parking as enforcement regularly patrol the area. The places doesn't look to big inside, but comes alive at night with tables at the sides and front of the restaurant. Though you may need to wait awhile, depending on your luck. The menu has changed abit from the last time i was here and i miss my regular set menu. However, now there is a buffet option which is what we choose for today. Service was ok, as most of the staff were busy preparing for the night rush. The sides also have changed abit. Personally i missed my anchovies with groundnuts. The bbq meats in the buffer were good, with the spicy ones being the best. You can order sides, which may not be the best choice if you want to maximise on the meat. There is some cold green tea available for free as well. Grilling is done yourself, with the staff being attentive to replace the grill whenever it requires changing. Overall, will definately come back for its delicious food at reasonable prices. It is not the most tasty korean bbq, but its the best value out there.

Its located on the GoundFloor of Sunway Giza Mall. There is parking in the basement is ample, atleast for weekday anyway. Super hard to get parking outside even on weekdays so might be best to pay for the ease of mind. Place looks relatively new and not much ratings, especially since there are more established korean bbq places in the area. As a disclaimer, i am unable to eat certain things due to my keto diet. The japchae in the side dishes is pretty nice according to my wife. Personally, i am here for the meat and don't really care much for the side dishes. There arent any gas fire grills here. Instead there are induction cookers on each table, which is a pretty new for me. Some items will be cooked by the staff at a proper grill so you might want to give this place a skip if you reallly want to cook them yourselves. Though sometimes we want a hands off korean bbq. The spicy pork belly(cooked by staff) was ok. Not bad but not wow either. Comes with cooked onions which is good if you are a fan (not me). The baby octopus (cooked by staff) came with cabbages and carrots in the sauce. The sauce was nice but the octopus was overcooked. Service was fine, with nothing worth mentioning. Overall, this place isnt for me. The lack or wow factors and no gas stove cooking makes it a no go, especially with the other options awailable.
