✨ An affordable Korean BBQ restaurant that caters to Taiwanese tastes
✨ The staff are very friendly and professional
✨ A favorite dining spot for office workers, always packed for lunch and dinner
I really like this affordable Korean BBQ place. Just hearing the name "Ma Hi Da" gives a warm and authentic feeling.
When we sat down, it wasn't even noon yet, but soon after the lunch hour began, the restaurant quickly filled up with people. The business is really good.
The interior decoration is quite simple, with many posters of Korean stars on the walls. I must say that they keep updating the posters; I even saw a picture of the handsome actor, Kim Yoo-seok (super handsome, haha 😂).
Alright, back to the main point.
The restaurant offers a variety of Korean BBQ options, including grilled meat on brass grills and traditional Korean BBQ, as well as group meal sets. The staff are very thoughtful in recommending suitable dishes for us and provide suggestions based on our preferences and appetite. This is a great relief for those who struggle with choices.
We ordered the three-person set for $2100, which included:
We also ordered an additional spicy grilled pork belly. The portion for five people was just right!
The pork belly was incredibly delicious, with a beautiful and even distribution of fat and lean meat, without any off-flavors. Throughout the meal, the staff helped us grill the meat at the table, so we only needed to take photos and enjoy.
The spicy grilled pork belly was a delightful surprise. I initially thought it would just be a regular heavy-flavored dish, but the combination of the spicy sauce and sautéed onions made it so tasty. The saltiness was just right and paired well with rice. I'm glad the staff recommended this dish; it was really good!
The seafood pancake was not too greasy, with the perfect thickness and crispiness. The octopus inside was in large pieces, showing that the ingredients were quite substantial.
I personally enjoyed the side dish platter, with many pieces of perilla leaves, and the lettuce was very fresh and well-cleaned.
As for the brass grill BBQ, it was as expected—nothing too surprising but still delicious.
Other dishes were also commendable. Overall, the food at this restaurant is above standard, and you can tell that the flavors of the spicy tofu soup, stir-fried meat, and side dishes are tailored to Taiwanese tastes, not overly spicy, which I personally liked.
If you plan to visit this place, make sure to arrive early during meal times! Otherwise, during peak dining hours, the staff may be too busy to grill meat for you at the table.
