"Little Ding Chicken Rice" is located near Taipei Station, about a 4-minute walk from Exit Z4. This area is filled with various food options, and many office workers or students heading for tutoring nearby often stop by. This chicken rice shop is newly opened and mainly sells tender chicken rice and roasted chicken rice.
The staff are quite friendly. I visited on a weekday afternoon around 6 PM, and not only were all the indoor seats taken (there aren’t many, about 6-7 at the bar), but there were also many waiting for takeout. I initially thought it would be a quick grab-and-go meal, but I ended up waiting about 5-10 minutes for my order.
Roasted chicken rice: $130
The side dishes included cabbage and a type of green vegetable (sorry, I really can’t identify the types of vegetables, please refer to the photo), a small piece of fried tofu, and a soft-boiled egg.
I found the portion of the roasted chicken to be somewhat small. It’s easy to finish it all at once without realizing, so you have to pace yourself. The flavor is decent; there’s no chickeny taste, and the meat quality is okay.
The side dishes tasted quite good, without any strange flavors or a boiled feeling (because they’re probably not boiled). The rice is already drizzled with sauce, and the runny yolk from the soft-boiled egg makes the rice moist and flavorful—pretty tasty!
If you can handle spicy food, I highly recommend adding the chili provided by the shop. Putting a little on the vegetables and rice elevates the deliciousness even more—definitely a plus!
