My first time visiting Dong Ya Kitchen was through a birthday month event using a Cathay United Bank credit card. This restaurant claims to offer an improved version of Shanghainese cuisine, and I found that it really is quite different from the traditional style—it's not overly oily or salty, but rather refreshing and closer to vegetarian flavors 🌿

🍅 Small. Tomato Radish Beef Brisket $680
The tomato soup base is flavorful and rich, but a few pieces of beef brisket were a bit tough and chewy, making them harder to bite into. Meat lovers might be a little disappointed.

🥬 Small. Sour Cabbage with Shredded Pork $360
This dish is delicious! The cabbage is fermented just right, with a natural sourness that is very appetizing. While the shredded pork isn't particularly standout, it pairs perfectly and makes for a great accompaniment 👍

🍖 Small. Plumsauce Ribs $530
Today’s MVP✨ Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the sweet and sour balance just right—definitely the type that will keep you going for more!

🥜 Small. Nutty Chicken Diced $480
The nuts were freshly sprinkled when served, and I expected a stir-fried flavor, but it wasn't. Overall, it lacked a bit of fusion, which was somewhat disappointing.

🍚 Small. Shanghainese Rice $240
The seasoning is good and fragrant, but toward the end, it feels a bit oily. However, it pairs excellently with the sour cabbage.

Overall, the atmosphere is elegant, with about six tables for indoor seating, and the staff is friendly and attentive 🙌 I highly recommend making a reservation in advance! This place is suitable for those who want to enjoy Chinese cuisine without it being too greasy, but those who prefer stronger flavors might find it a bit lacking in punch.
