The Shizuoka Katsumasa Japanese Pork Cutlet Nangang Global Store is located in the themed restaurant area on the basement floor of the Nangang Station Global Shopping Center. It has excellent transportation access, making it easy to reach by MRT, Taiwan Railways, or High-Speed Rail.
This time, I enjoyed the scallion and radish puree pork loin cutlet set, a small portion of the pork tenderloin cutlet set, along with an extra pork tenderloin, yams puree, and cheese cake and brown rice tea that came with the set, totaling 924 TWD.
Scallion and radish puree pork loin cutlet set:
The thick, crispy pork loin cutlet is generously topped with chopped scallions and radish puree, and garnished with a slice of fresh lemon. The batter is crispy and not greasy, the cutlet is thick but not dry, and the scallions and radish puree are liberal. The freshness of the lemon slice adds a perfect finishing touch.
Small portion of pork tenderloin cutlet set:
The tenderloin is more tender compared to the loin, with the juices well-sealed, making it easy to bite through. The batter is thin and not greasy, and the temperature is well controlled. The extra pork tenderloin ordered is just as impressive as the one in the set.
Customers can choose between white rice or barley rice for their meal, with the option to add yam puree for free. The barley rice has a chewier texture compared to white rice, and the yam puree is finely mashed, smooth, and melts in your mouth. The unique sticky texture of the yam pairs perfectly with the barley rice, so I ordered an additional serving.
Upon seating, three types of side dishes are served, which include pickled radish, Korean kimchi, and burdock strips. They are refreshing, appetizing, and help cleanse the palate, though unfortunately they are served once and cannot be refilled. The miso soup comes in pork or kelp flavors; I first chose the pork miso soup, which was hearty with a rich broth that was not overly salty, and I found the kelp miso soup just as delicious in the refill.
Shredded cabbage can also be ordered as a side, which pairs well with the restaurant’s sesame sauce or Japanese-style dressing.
Cheese cake:
The performance of the cheese cake is average, with a strong milky flavor and a solid texture.
Brown rice tea:
The aroma is well-preserved, with a delicate earthy scent in the aftertaste.
Overall, it is a consistently good chain Japanese set meal restaurant with excellent frying skills. The prices match the quality, and the interior is bright, clean, and comfortable. Although the dining time is quite busy, and staff may not notice you immediately, overall service remains satisfactory.
I recommend it to everyone!
