This week's overbearing cold wave is suitable for eating Haidilao. I thought it would take a long time, but maybe because it hasn't officially entered the meal period yet, I waited about an hour to be seated!
Having eaten at Haidilao several times, I already have my own list of must-select dishes. For the pot base, I choose classic spicy and three delicacies. Must-try dishes include Lao pie with beef and boneless beef short ribs (didn’t order them today😅), Lao pie with bean curd, shrimp slippery, Duck blood, fried dough sticks and noodles, and other side dishes to choose from depending on your mood. Here is a little tip to save money. If you choose 4 compartments on the bottom of the pot, you can actually only choose 2 flavors. Just use water for the other two compartments. This will only count 2/4 of the cost.
You must finish your meal with Haagen-Dazs ice cream. I was lucky enough to catch the Sichuan Opera Face Changing time today (unfortunately, my daughter didn’t dare to watch it at all🫣)
Xinzhuang Haidilao also has hand-crank drinks. The price is about the same as other hand-crank drinks. I didn’t order one today and I want to try it next time.
To me, Haidilao is not a super delicious restaurant, but with its performances, children's playroom, manicure and service, it is a restaurant that I come to every time I don't know what to eat🍴
