Midnight Snack2 pplHK$32.5

❤️ The only dessert shop, Jiajia, that has received Michelin Guide recognition for eight consecutive years. Operating for over forty years and still maintaining a high standard is truly remarkable. Each post includes actual dining photos; even if it’s just a drink, to prevent some users from posting misleading pictures without food items. Overall rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

📍 This place is located in a small alley next to Nathan Road near Jordan Station. The shop provides quite a few indoor seating options, which are divided into two floors. 🚗 Due to the narrow streets in the area, it's recommended to take the subway or other public transportation.

💬 The service inside is decent (though it seems like they have faced harsh criticism). Customers need to take a number outside and wait until their number is called to be seated. For takeaway, an additional charge applies for the food container, but you won’t need to wait for a number. If it's too crowded, it's advisable to take away. (It’s suggested to check the waiting number status to decide whether to take away.)

Ordering food is currently self-service through an online system; you can scan a QR code to place your order online and pay with a credit card or other methods. You can also pay at the counter, but they only accept Hong Kong dollars in cash.

The speed of food delivery after ordering is not slow, and the shop is clean and not crowded (think of DimDimSum...). If there aren’t too many people or if you’re not in a rush, it’s still recommended to dine in.

(It's a pity I didn't get to try the mango sago dessert; I have to come back next time!)

🍲 Sesame paste (hot) $28 Add tangyuan (three pieces) $8 I don't know why my first impression is that these tangyuan seem to be smaller? I recall the sesame tangyuan in Taiwan being larger, but it might also be that my memory is faulty... The sesame paste is super thick, and the hot sesame aroma is overwhelming. Coupled with the texture of the sesame tangyuan, it adds another layer of mouthfeel, and it's satisfying even to drink it in the summer.
🍮 Ice Flower Steamed Egg (Chilled) $29 Actually, this is my favorite egg pudding. Just getting the surface to be air-free requires some serious skills. However, this Ice Flower Steamed Egg has received quite polarized reviews; those who like it think it's delicious, while those who don't like it think it's weird. It might be a bit hard for some to adjust to the strong egg flavor, but personally, I still quite enjoy this very authentic Hong Kong dessert.
The number plate machine outside the store.
You can see the situation in the inner hall.
Although there are many people, it doesn't feel crowded!

This is the dining area on the second floor, it looks a little messy.

Egg waffle made fresh with lots of options. Our go to option is the regular flavor adding cheese. The outside is crispy and the inside gooey and salty and is the perfect flavor combination. This time we tried the salted egg flavor. It's good, but I found myself longing for the cheesy option we usually get. It does take several minutes for orders to be ready so be prepared to wait a little. Great for an afternoon snack!

Snow desserts are one of my favorites with the soft texture and natural flavors. This place really hit the spot. Service was a bit on the slow side but it was worth it, they have to make them 1-2 at a time. The space was comfortable as well, and portions were generous. I prefer ice monster locations from my past memory but still very satisfied with this location.

Apologies in advance, I did not take pictures of what this place is most well known for, but still want to leave a review to recommend this place to others. We wanted just hot dessert like red bean or tofu custard, which they have and we ordered. When we saw the snow desserts that were flying around and the big pictures advertising the snow desserts on the wall we caved in and ordered one (and in my distraction I forgot to take a picture). But this place is very efficiently run and heavily visited, many tourists as well. They have a large amount of seating and it was easy for us to find given how many people were around. But yeah, the snow dessert we ordered later came before the other things that we ordered. And it was really great, definitely worth a try. The grass jelly dessert I ordered was fine, and was what I was looking for but nothing special. Just order any of their snow ice desserts though, you won't be disappointed.
