Miscellaneous Student - What to Eat
During the winter solstice, I visited a dessert shop near the Zhonghe Guangji Temple.

A bowl of burning grass jelly is 35 yuan.

★ Meal:
Burning grass jelly for 35 yuan, with 3 types of toppings.

★ Thoughts:
This is also a bowl of grass jelly that doesn't solidify. However, at 35 yuan, you can choose from 3 toppings. On this day of forgiveness during the winter solstice, it’s perfect to buy a bowl and take it to offer during prayers. Moreover, there is also a portion of egg cake across the street for 20 yuan (6 pieces). Overall, the experience was not particularly impressive. The toppings were either unsweetened or lightly sweetened. The jelly might be better when served hot, but I feel the taste is quite different compared to the handmade jelly I’ve had before. Next time, I want to try selecting handmade Q cake, taro ball, or tapioca pearls.

It's rare to find a dessert shop in the northern region that offers items for under 50 yuan. I recommend it for those who want to indulge in dessert or prefer less sweet toppings.

I hope to have the opportunity to return next time and choose the douhua (tofu pudding) from here.

★ Waiting Time:
5 minutes, with only the auntie busy going back and forth.
