The Lantern Braised Delicacies Original Store is located in a lane on Shida Road in the Da'an District of Taipei City. The nearest MRT station is the Taipei Power Building Station, Exit 3, which is about a 6-minute walk away. There is another store nearby at the corner of Shida Road also called the Lantern Braised Delicacies Original Store, but it is run by a different team. The interior has over 30 seats, and the decor is simple and somewhat outdated.
For ordering, customers can pick their desired ingredients from the counter (don’t bang the tongs; it might scare the food (?)), and after selecting, they can settle the bill at the counter, where cash and various payment methods are accepted. Receipts are available 📄✅. After paying, customers wait inside for their number to be called at the food pickup area.
There are plenty of ingredient options, with slightly higher prices for meat and vegetables. If you only order offals, starches, meatballs, and tofu products, you can eat for a lower price (a method for cash-strapped students 🫥). During the waiting time, we also played with the table’s coin-operated game for $10, which hasn’t increased in price for over a decade 🤣.
In the seating area, there are free drinks available (winter melon tea, unsweetened green tea) which are quite mild but very refreshing for a hot summer day.
The braised sauce is moderately seasoned with a hint of sweetness, and the freshness of the ingredients is acceptable. If you find yourself wandering around nearby and unsure of what to eat, why not try some braised delicacies?
