Old Shanghai buns are a snack that's often enjoyed while shopping for groceries at Yongchun Market on weekends. They come in a variety of flavors, and the dough is made from fermented old dough. The business is usually quite good. When I arrived this morning close to 10 AM, they hadn't started operating yet, and by the time I finished shopping and came back, there was already a long line.

Today, I bought three: spicy meat bun, chive bun, and sauerkraut bun. My preference ranking is spicy meat bun > sauerkraut bun > chive bun.

The chive dumplings are filled generously and have a relatively mild flavor.
I like spicy meat buns with the meat juices sticking to the bun skin. The spiciness feels mild, and the meat is the more tender kind (I usually eat spicier food, so I think this level of spiciness should be acceptable for most people).
The sauerkraut in the sauerkraut bun is slightly sour and slightly sweet, and when mixed with the ground meat, it tastes great.
